Fighter for America, not Corporate America

I have to end my campaign for US Senator because of the Hatch Act.

The Hatch Act of 1939 was created to prevent federal employees from engaging in nearly all forms of political activity.

The Hatch Act Reform Amendments of 1993 permits most federal employees to take an active part in partisan political management and partisan political campaigns but the key part of this act is that Federal employees are forbidden to run for office in a partisan election.

Because of where I work, I cannot run for a partisan office.

So before I could even put my name on the ballot for United States Senator of Washington State, I will have to end my campaign.

But this is not an end for my political career.

I promise to continue to fight for what is right, continue to learn, and continue to be a part of the political process and the community.

I will find a way to reform the Hatch Act so that I can rejoin the fight in the 2018 elections.

Phil Cornell is a Berniecrat that is running for US Senator against Patty Murray. He shares many of my views especially on TPP and Citizens United. I give him my endorsement and support. Visit his website to learn more about him.
